Vestax PDX 2000 vs Technics 1200 M3D

Which ones better guys? Technics are classics, and are very solid, but its old and outdated. The vestax doesn't have as solid a build, but it has way more features and its new (designed by ISP). Which one would you take?

It depends on what kind of deejaying you are into.

The Tech 1200's are the world-wide industry standard. No matter what country or club you go to, you will see the 1200's.

The ISP's, Beat Junkies, and the X-men use the Vestax. There are 2 reasons why they use them. First, of all, Vestax is their sponsor. Secondly, they are great for turntablism.

What kind of music are you spinning?

Honestly.............

The 1200's are the indusrty standard but the Vestex are the new thing that all the big boys are using. But to be totally honest I am not impressed with the Vestex Tables at all.

First I am not Impressed in the way they are built. There made out of a Hard type of Plastic. - Unlike The 1200's that are solid and Tough. They can stand up to anything.
My one set of 1200's are so beat up you would think they dont work. They have been through HELL. They have had Beer Spilt in them tons of times, The one was dropped on its side, and they were left in a van for 2 days in 100+ degree weather. And believe it or not they still work like they are Brand New. Now I DOUBT, if you abused those Vestex turntables like that they would survive. If you drop um there done. No doubt about that.

Next the Vestex company claims that there tables won't skip. Well thats false. I used a pair at a show I was Djing in New Jersey and those things skipped all night long. They didnt only skip for me but they skipped constanly for the 2 DJ's that played after me.

Next the Vestex comes equipped with all these little functions and controls on it to make your Djing more fun or whatever Well, WHO REALLY NEEDS all those gadgets. If your a DJ you shouldnt rely on the all the gadgets that the table has. You should rely on your God Given talent.

The only things the Vestex turntable has that the technic 1200's doesnt is that the Vestex has a .05 second start up time compared to the Techs .08 second start up time. Plus the Vestx has 10 Pitch - and + compared to the Technics 8 Pitch - and +.

Well Overall I guess you all have a good Idea on how I feel. I would Go for The TECHNIC 1200's if your looking for a Professional, Solid, and World renowned turntable.

I agree TOTALLY with TonyMOMO.

I have 3 sets of 12's.

I bought my first set in 82' or 83'.

They work fine........(except for a few replaced tone arms, lights, and patchcords, but h*ll I've had them 20 years).

hmm

Yea, its turntablism i would be doing. And yea, i was most likely going to go for the techs. They're industry standards, as i mentioned, and you guys stated, the techs are build like tanks, and the vestax are flimsy plastic. plus the techs look classy, they vestax are cheesy. Yea, techs here i come. My friend has a coupe 1200's and a vestax 05 pro, i like his setup, im gonna get the same. he wants to upgrade to a 07 pro isp version.

Numark Tables...

Sorry,
I meant the Numark TT-X1s. The latest joints the make. My interest is in
a) the motor - which is supposed to be legit
b) the tracking of those tonearms, both the the straight, and the "S"
c) The Key Lock feature (does it produce weird delay/echo like some CD joints do)
d) the housing.

Thanks in advance for any input.

BTW - these Numarks cost the same as the vestax & 12s...
Don't skimp on your wheels if you're serious. If you're not sure if you're gonna stick with it, then buy the most expensive you can stand, and your frustration will either encourage you, and you'll buy some real wheels, or you'll decide spinnin jus ain't your thing.

But, um...

I've got two pair of 12s, I just want more wheels. After so long behind technics, I thought I'd check out some other fish in the sea, since some of them appear to be up to snuff (hey, better my table loyalty than my old lady, right?).

Do you know anything about the Numarks I mentioned? I know I can buy some & check them out for a few weeks and exchange them if need be, just wondering if anyone has touched them?

I'd stick with the 12's.........

The 1200's have shown and proved, for more that 2 decades.

The old adage I share with ALL of my close friends, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!

Yeah, but...

I just thought the "key lock" feature might be ill, especially for nifty mixing tricks. I guess your response means you guys haven't ever touched them. I don't have the chance to go to any music stores that have shit without driving 2 1/2 hours.

I know 12s is the past, present, and future, I was just trying to get some input on some other goodies.

'Preciate the input gentlemen. I'll be around.

One,

I have MKII's and O3D's. The keylock feature is not that great of a feature. You don't need to spend the extra cash for the O3D's if that is the only thing that intrigues you about them.

That's cool, fellas...

I just hate it when I move the pitch control just above or below "the green," that's when I thought it would help. No weird pitch action, then...

good lookin' out.
