swap is on a distinguished road
monitor placement

hi all,
my new monitors have just arrived, a pair of genelecs, the "control room" (nothing special, it was a bedroom) is about 3.8 m x 4.7 with 2.5 m height (i´ll check the exact masures tomorrow).
how should i place them (on the desk, free standing, etc) , and how do i set de bass tilt and roll off, etc for this room, last week we recorded a violoncelo in this room (i`m still building the booths) and we mik´d it with a beyerdynamics hipercardioid (mk 5) SD condensor, and i noticed a bass build up around 123 Hz, does this mean i need set the bass tilt to minus something?????
this is my first set of real monitors and i´m new to this stuff....

swap - place your monitors at head height with the same distance between them as you are from them with them sitting at 30 degrees to the wall so you create a 60 degree angle from you to them (hope this makes sense )

The bass tilt as I remember it is only needed when you flush mount the speakers, as you have them free standing you shouldn't need to touch it. Get a few really well recorded tracks (see the thread somewhere here on reference CDs) and set your monitors up so they sound good. Knowing genelecs you will probably have top roll the top end off quite a bit.

cheers
John
