I'm a newbie. Can someone recommend to me a good consumer electronics home 3-head audio cassette deck under $300. I want to record commercial CDs onto audio cassettes. I know there are professional models for thousands of dollars, but I'm only a novice plus I can't afford to spend THAT much.
I've heard the Sony TC-KA1ESA is excellent. Any comments ? Any help would be greatly appreciated !!! Thank you !!! Alan |

Out of curiosity -- why does it have to be 3-head?

I use the Sony WA8 ESA dual deck. A great little cassette box. I also have a 3 head Sony deck but is I think the dual deck, which is a newer model, does a better job. However, I use both decks for back and forth dubbing, etc. I can get the Alvin the Chimpmonk sound by running the dual deck at high speed recording and patch it into the 3 head deck. Interesting for some funny stuff. I think any Sony ES model cassette deck will do a good job; before you buy, call all the 800 numbers you can. I got mine out of Chicago as most vendors do not carry Sony ES decks. Watch out for Mickey! Green Hornet ![]() |

I have a Marantz PMD-430 3-head cassette recorder which I've used on & off for the past 18 years. You can still get them from places like FullCompass Systems, but you could also try these:
