Close-up of the audio editing station. Note the dual monitors! I was missing out big time before with one small monitor.

Thumbs up

Excellent! The dual monitors are sweet. I've got a 20" and I'm not sure if I'd like a second one or just a bigger one in general.
By the way, how do you like the Mouse? I've been eyeing the Blue mics. The RCA looks tastey too.

Track Rat:
The dual monitors are almost a must with a full DAW. One screen just gets too busy. I managed to pick up the 2 17" view sonic's at Comp-USA for like $153.00 each. Too good a deal to pass up. I would have loved to have had dual 20" ,,, but economics dictate.

The BLUE mouse is really a very fine mic. It's craftsmanship is extremely rugged, and you can feel the quality of this mic when you hold it in your hand. BUT.... It is a very colored mic. If your looking for faithful reproduction of a particular sound source, then this is probably not the mic for you. It has a lot more "reach" than many of the other mics I have, so backing it off the source a bit yeilds much better results.
The mic is Bright, Forward, and seems to jump out of the mix.(with perhaps a bit too much presence)
On someone with a deep, viceral voice that sings soul, like say Etta James or the like, it would be spectacular!!

The RCA is indeed a tasty mic. It takes a phemoninal amount of gain to drive it though. So a quality pre-amp is a must! I use an "Audix 35102" racked by Brent Averill to drive the RCA. This pre has 80 dB of gain and I can push 75 or so and still keep the noise floor down. Rugged it is not though. Typical vintage ribbon mic, nice highs, shimmery, clean, discrete.

Thanks for looking.

John, thanks!
This room will serve me for a while, but ultimately I intend to convert the garage (2 car) and expand a portion of the house adjacent to it. I'm finally starting to do some "real" work in the studio, mostly scoring for films (independent features and shorts mainly), and at some point I'm going to want to have a facility where I can project the scenes as I either score, or mix them. This room, while large by some standards, is just too small to acheive that.

Oh yeah, and my "dream" Neotek Encore console would never fit in here with the piano and keyboards!

I built it. Doubles as a rack too. I have some plans for it somewhere, I'll have to try and dig 'em up.

Michael,
Just curious as to what your square footage is or your overall room dimensions in your studio? Very nice.

It's roughly 15'x17' with 9' ceilings.
Here's a look at another angle:

Mike, what kind of wood did you use on your desk (its beautiful) and where did you find those legs? I'm in the process of designing a desk.

Greg...
I didn't build the desk, I built the riser on top of it. I used poplar wood, and painted it satin black. Notice the other 2 racks on top of the keyboard tables; those were built in the same fashion.
The desks I bought at office depot. They were supposed to be used as part of a cubicle. On the 2 piano desks, I cut the pannel legs down so that when the keyboards were placed on top of them, the keys would be at the right height.
