I should be in the directory you installed Cubase into.

Hi hk_runner,
If you have purchased a legit copy of Cubase VST you will find it on the CD in PDF format. If you have downloaded a demo version, you will have only the help files within the program. If you have a cracked version you are SOL!! Hope this helps! MIke Last edited by man@work; 05-17-2002 at 12:33.. |

thanks a lot.
Is it worthwhile to learn Cubase VST 5.0, now that the new Cubase SX is about to be released? Or should I save my time and wait for the release of Cubase SX? |

No better time to start. Keep in mind that upgrades are rarely a complete overhaul, they usually add extra's to the original program. I would recommend getting as familiar as you can with the system, that way when you get EX you will be familiar with the basics and better be able to learn the new features with less of a chance of feeling totally overwhelmed by starting from scratch.

Actaully SX *is* a complete overhaul and it has changed in terms of functionality and user interface - all very much for the better... it's slotted for release around the end of June... if you buy Cubase/32 now, upgrade to SX is free.... so you can still start to get your feet wet, then still get the improvements offered by SX.........

Exactly.
SX takes hints from Nuendo and is a complete overhaul of the Cubase system. Also, according to a store tech, the parallel port dongle is being replaced with a USB dongle. Also, supopsedly 5.0 works on systems up to WinME, but SX will only work on XP/2000. You can check www.steinberg.net for screen shots, etc. As Bruced mentioned, you will get the upgrade to SX for free if you buy 5.0 before it is released. It is also rumored that you can then run each on different computers because you can keep the original 5.0 software and dongle. IMHO, it will be worth it just to get more than one level of undo. Try
c:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase VST 5.0\Documentation That's about where mine live on the Hard Drive. I don't have the CD here, so I have no idea where you'd find them there. Maybe to a search for .PDF files. The big manual is called "Getting Into the Details." Enjoy! Chris |
