Talking Ceramic plated - Is it better?

Yo to all:

When I got my 2816, Yamaha also included one [they are generous] BASF CD-R which is ceramic plated.

OK, so someone who knows, please clue me in. I burned the disc with no problems. Is it a better grade disc than the norm? Or, is this ceramic flag mean nada?

I know someone will know: Bruce, Burgundy Band, Atomic One, someone will know and let me know.

Thanks,
Green Hornet

Hey Green Machine!

Id go to the BASF site and see if there is some kinda sales spewing that explain why its different. From what Ive read its suppose to be a protective coating to minimize scratches. But you never know how much is science and how much is BS.

Talking

Yo Newest of the newest:

Thanks for the reply. I guess Blue Bear is still hibernating up in Canada.

I got a ten pack of BASF CDR's but they did not have the ceramic backing. It's kind of a heavier disc and your thoughts are probably dead right. It's all in marketing.

I'll check into the BASF site.

Thanks for the bump.

Green Hornet

Talking

Yo Citric Gangster:

Thanks for the imput. The only thing I store is GOOD BOTTLES OF WINE. I just want to use quality discs when I burn stuff so I can, perhaps, eliminate problems.

Thanks for you information. I'm still surprised that the Blue Bear hasn't chipped in?

What are you doing Bruce? Sleeping.

Happy Summer,
Green Hornet
