Hi!
I’m a new guy on the block. Today I use a Phonic MM1202 mixer with 4 mono channels, with Mic/Line and inset, and 4 stereos. The 4 stereo channels do not have EQ. I have a Lexicon MPX100 multi processor and a Behringer 2200 compressor/gate/limiter. A 19" external Behringer or Lexicon EQ is something I probably will by to be able to adjust the 4 stereo channels. There is one EFX out and it is returned as send to channel 7/8 as a send effect. Today I use the Lexicon as a send reverb effect and the two-channel compressor as an insert on channel 3 and 4. Is the use of an external 31 band analogue graphic EQ a good solution to bring more flexibility to the EQ-less stereo channels? Is it best to put between the mixer and computer (I use Cubasis VST) or is it better to use it as an insert or send effect? |

You can use it in a side-chain configuration with the Autocom to help recover subtle, lost freqs from comping and gating. Connect it to your comp and incoporate the 2200's "side chain monitor" switch!

Thanx MISTERQCUE !
I will try that. Maybee I'l by two EQ. The Behringr is not so expensive. 2.000 SEK (195 USD). But still I'm wonder if the best way to use a EQ, for the 8 channels (4 stereo) without treb/mid/bas EQ on the mixer, is by buting it between the mixer and the SB Live DriveII? |

Yes, run the EQ inline between computer and mixer. If you use it in an effects loop you will only be mixing the EQ'd signal with the original un EQ'd signal.

TexRoadkill:
Thanx! I will conect the EQ on the line between mixer and SB Live Drive II. MISTERQCUE: If I use the EQ like TexRoadkill told me, is there any use for an other EQ in the side-chain configuration? If there is anything to gain by having two EQ, like no reconfiguration need etc, I will get two EQ. Not much money to talk about. |

configuration by side-chaining the eq's in each channel than connect into your boards channel inserts or main inserts of your board (for mixing down purposes). Try and use an EQ that has a boost/cut from 6db-12db in it's features. |

To be honest I wouldnt go buying a bunch of cheap EQ's. Your best bet would be to get a Soundcraft M mixer with good EQ for each channel already on it. That will give you a lot more mileage than stocking up on sub par outboard gear.
More importantly get a better sound card. That will give you the most dramatic increase in quality. |

Oki! I hear what you say and I agree 100% but I have my reasons to buy one or two "monkey" EQ's. Thanx for your time and help. |
