Live Snare tuning

I use a regular old pearl steel snare with remo ambasador coated bater and remo snare side. When I first put the head on, I let it strech out then I tune it up. I tune it up really tight and it sounds great for a while but then after about 2 weeks of playing it starts to sound really dead when hit dead center. It still sounds nice and high when hit off center.

any sugjestions on getting a nice high atack sound? I just use this for playing live. thanks a lot

Sounds like you are a hard hitter. In that case, I would go with coated emporers. They last longer than the ambassadors.
