Monitor Cabling Question
I just got a pair of Alesis Point Seven's (I know, Alesis monitors suck, rant, rant, flame, flame). This is my first pair of studio monitors, and my question is about the connections. I noticed that the binding posts accept raw wire and banana plugs. I havent used banana plugs before, but are they a more efficient distributor of power than wire ends? Like speakon ends compared to xlr, etc? Any help would be great.

I love banana plugs because they're so easy to wire and easy to distinguish polarity on once wired. That's what I use on my Event 20/20s. I use 12 gauge wire (about a 6 foot run) and there never has been an issue of "power transmission" difficulties.
XLR ends generally uses much smaller gauge wires and allow shielding and balancing- both unnecessary with speaker to power amp connections. |
