Event PS5 Nearfield Monitors

Just purchased a pair of Event PS5 Nearfield Monitors, and I like them a lot. They are small but quite powerful.

Anyone out there hear of a review of these speakers. They sound pretty balanced to me but I have nothing else to reference them too. Just stereo speakers.

Any of you guys use these?

I am mixing a project right now, and I'll post a follow up later.

Sincerely;

Dom Franco

Thumbs up i have the ps8's

they are nice speakers. I a/b them against the smaller mackies(hdr-624?) and the advents won 2 to 3. they seem to have a slightly scooped low mid.

Detuned6

Which had the scooped mids, the Mackies or the Events?
Besides, in Germany (where I'm probably gonna buy my monitors) the Events PS'8 cost €911 per pair, while the Mackie HR624 cost €872 a PIECE!!!

Did anyone A/B the PS-8 vs. the PS-6 speakers?
And the PS6/PS8 vs. the Tannoy Reveal Actives or Behringer Truths?

I have the PS6's and I a/b'd them against everything in the Guitar Center where I bought them. Ugh! A/Bing in that noisey hell-hole is about useless!

I do recall from that (highly suspect) listening session, that the 8's have more bass detail- for my bass-sensitive ears a bit too much. The 6's gave me more details in the mids and highs (which I have more trouble hearing) so I bought them.

Again, though, I haven't USED anything else since that (highly suspect) a/b session so...what the heck can I really say? I hope that its true that you get used to a set up monitors and get good at mixing on them because I don't have the money to buy news monitors or the time to retrain my ears to them.

Take care,
Chris

Proveras is on a distinguished road
I have the PS-6. I like them.
good quality at a great price.

well, I dont like the PS5.
A friend have a pair of them.

I think you can get something better at this price range with some more low end and mid range and some hi end
I just dont like them.
maybe just to compare a mix in other speakers.

what about the new Fostex...

So, basically the Event PS-8's seem to deliver more bass, but at the cost of some (low-)mid detail?

The Event PS-6's would cost me around $700 a pair in Germany, and the Event PS-8's would cost me $800.

I have auditioned the Behringer Truths and I liked the low-end on those a lot, but they lack some mid-detail too.
I'm a bit worried that the Tannoy Reveal Actives ($550 a pair) will lack some low end.

More thoughts, guys?

Try not to think of money to much. I was. i was gonna get the ps-6's. but thought about all the bass that the ps-8 can handle. I figuired if i buy the ps-8's i will never have to buy monitors for a long time. Their expensive but fuck, your mix will only sound as good depending on what your monitoring threw. Trust me its worth it. I whent from AT 25watt powered monitors to the ps-8 and now i can hear "EVERYTHING" that i couldnt before. Fucking amazzing!!!!!!
