sonar 131 and inca 88 card

Has anyone out there managed to make this card work? I run xp pro/800 t bird ecs k7s5a mobo/512 ram/tnt64 agp graphics. games and media player work but sonar won't even play the demo. Is it just a bad card [second one] or am I going crazy? I upped the drivers in all the hardware [and there's almost nothing else in the machine, no other pci slots filled etc] but it won't make a sound. Oh the time I've wasted!!
