Sonar monitor?

I recently plugged an electric guitar into a computer that had Sonar loaded. I noticed that in the headphones, the sound of what I played seemed to be delayed by a half a second or so, as did any activity in the VU meters.

Any ideas on what I was doing wrong?

What you're hearing is latency. Try turning off "Input Monitoring" under Options/Audio.
