Question

I have a problem with recording acoustic
Guitar/Mandolin into my SBlive card.

As they both have active bridge pickups the
signal is very low. I have a Behringer mixer
which Ive been using for vocals but there is nowhere near enough gain to get a good sound.

Im looking at the Art Tube MP as a solution.

Im happy with the acoustic sound of my present pickups so I don't want to change anything there.

Any ideas.....

Well if you are set on using your pickup rather than using a mic I would go with a preamp that is made for acoustic instruments rather than the Art one. The LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI would work well for that purpose. I don't know how easy it would be to find one in Australia though. SansAmp also makes one that I have heard good things about. It would probably be easier to find and it will give a tube sound if you want it.

Thanks Cliff, Ill check these preamps out.

Its not so much that I don't want to use mics. I only have a SM58 which is ok for vocals at the moment. I thought going direct would be cleaner and my house gets pretty noisy to say nothing of the computer humming away.

Again thanks....
