Yo HYPNOTIC ONE:

iF YOU buy an MD-8 and get into the GROUP RECORD MODE, YOU WILL SOON LEARN ABOUT BUSSING.

a SIMPLE EXAMPLE IS:> yOUR INPUT TRACK IS, SAY, TRACK 2. In the Group mode, you can buss, [send it] your signal from track 2 to one or more tracks. This is nice when you want to stereo your drums, or put the vocal on two tracks and play with the left/right and EQ.

There are many boxes you can buy to record; it depends on your specific needs, as noted in another post, and how much of a learning curve you want to drive into.
