Question Guitar Tracks and Studio

I use Tracks and Studio to do my guitar tracks and they work very well. I am trying to get my drums setup to record also and had just planned on using the same software along with a mixer for all of the mics. Is there a better alternative to these? Would there be any advantage to using Pro Audio or something along that line?

I only plan on mixing the channels down to stereo and feeding into my sound card, as I don't have as many channels as mics. Although, I am seriously considering the Motu 8-ch. digital interface when I can round up $1300. In the meantime. . .

Thanks,
Dave

I may be wrong on this but I think those programs can only record two tracks at a time.
I would suggest checking the specs at cakewalks site.
I know that pa9 and sonar accept multiple inputs.
I have sonar 2 and am very pleased with it.

My only other suggestion is to match your computer specs with the softwares requirements before you go ahead with any purchase.

GOOD LUCK!

You could always save a few $ and buy Home Studio 2002, its a cut down version of Sonar, but looks and feels the same.

You may be right. I've only recorded one track at a time for my guitar. But, without a multichannel soundcard, it wouldn't make much difference at the moment. I'm looking at getting the Motu 8-ch. digital interface sound recording thingy-ma-jig (did I already note that?). Until I have $1300 to spare, this will have to do.

I'm using a Delta 1010 - 8 analog, 2 digital ins. I's working flawlessly with Sonar for me. You could get two of these for $1300, plus a mic or two.

I use a Delta 66 and Omni I/O box. Available for around $400, four inputs, two great sounding pre's and spdif as well. Full 24 bit recording as well.
