Backwards Guitar Solos

I have a Tascam 414 mkii and i just learned how to do backwards stuff (turn tape over, record, turn back over) and i was wondering how i could record a backwards guitar solo to recorded music. how would i be able to play the solo to the song backwards? where would the beginning and end of the song be? do i use the time counter? thanks for the help

Play the recorded tracks backwards and jam to it when spots come up.

The line6 DL4 has an amazing reverse setting. Its also a great delay pedal. If you can find one used or on sale its worth it.

Play the song backwards. Learn the chord sequence of the part being which will contain the solo, backwards. Try and hit the climactic note of the solo FIRST and wind your way down from there. I listen to the backwards bass alot more then the rest of the instruments, which tend to confuse me.

Add some delay or reverb WHILE you are tracking and you can get some cool effects also.

Another cool backwards effect is to hit one note or chord and let it ring out. The most noticeable use of this is on "Another one bites the dust" by Queen. There is a reverse piano bass note that kicks off some of the faster stuff. Its an easy way to add tension and release to the last few bars of a verse right before a chorus or solo.

Play the highest note first and noodle your patterns down the neck as you go.Write out your chord sequence backwards so you don't get lost.Don't play a lot of fast riffs.Play slow bendy licks.Its really the reverse attack that is the appeal of this technique.Groovy,man!
