Question Wave playback

For some reason I'm unable to hear the wave file I just recorded in cakewalk express. I hear midi fine, but not my wave file.

Do you have your track assigned to an OUTPUT?

Thanks for the response! I've got an Audiophile 2496 sound card. I'm new at this and I really appreciate your help!

Under the "track properties" I've selected...

Source: Mono PCM In 1/2 Delta-AP

Port: WavOut 1/2 Delta-AP

Please let me know if there's another place to place an output

hmmmm

Do you create a new audio track, arm it, then record the MIDI tracks onto that audio track? I'm not sure what you're trying to do here. It sounds like your saying MIDI works fine but when you try to play any kind of .wav file (seperately as a different project) you don't hear anything. Or are you trying to play MIDI tracks and audio tracks at the same time from the same project?

Did the wave actually show up in the display? (This may seem like a dumb question, but the first time I used CW it was express like yours and I had a midi track and went to record the audio. I hit play at the beginning of the song and the "r" when it came time to record audio, then played the part, then found out later I actually had to arm the track for recording)

I would set the input port to the Monitor Mixer. Then go the the M-Audio control panel.

Make sure everything is un muted on the Monitor Mixer tab and then select Monitor mixer for H/W Out 1/2 on the Patchbay/router tab.
