Guitar Recording Software...

Hi Folks,

I've been a musician for many years, but I'm relatively new to PC recording, etc. To date I've been using ACID Pro 3.0 coz it's real easy to figure out and use....BUT, I don't think the *recording* playback quality is that good. It's definitely not 24/96 quality...

I'm using the new Terratec DMX 6 Fire audio card at the moment - which seems to be close to pro quality, sound wise, plus the front panel connectivity options are a handy feature. I also use the Line6 POD for effects, etc.

So, my question here is....which is the best software prog for laying down GUITAR tracks on the computer?

I've got COOL EDIT pro, which looks quite interesting, and I also have Cubase VTS5, but I haven't studied it yet.

Any advice or tips will be much appreciated.

not sure about what's best...but Samplitude (either Studio or Producer) are both great audio recording software.

If you have Cubase VST 5 you should learn to use it. It is regarded as one of the best. Of course, if you like working with CoolEdit, use that.

I've been using Guitar Trax Pro from Cakewalk. It's really nice. Quality is good and it's designed for guitar players. I found learning the interface to be very natural, and it has nice goodies like a decent guitar amp modeler built in. Plus, you have a nice upgrade path to Sonar if you need more features.
