Recording an Upright

I need some suggestions on recording upright bass. Should I use something like a D112 or go with a LD condenser? I haven't actuallyl had the opportunity to start my own experimentations but i just need something to get started. Also, is it common to do a stereo recording of an upright. Just curious, thanks for any info.......Josh

A large diaphragm condenser is probably a better choice.

Sure, especially if the instrument is to be predominant.
