connecting to sound card
i have a v amp and i bought a midi cord that hooks into the game port on my sound blaster live value...i have it hooked up per the instructions but when i try to record in cakewalk, i can't get anything to playback so i don't know if anything has actually recorded or not...

Try going to your surround mixer in your creative software program.(start button/programs/creative/soundblaster live!value/surround mixer) Choose the little arrow right above the recording fader. It has options there to set up your recording sources. You want to choose the midi option.

The MIDI port on the V-amp is for sending it instructions to change parameters -- sound patches, etc. As far as I know there's no MIDI Output on it and even if there was, no sound could come out of it.
You need to connect ots line outputs to the soundcard's line inputs.
