this is my first venture into forums, so if I sound sillimunctifious please bear with me. My question concerns using Numark mixing equipment. My fiance gave me a Numark cd mix-1 and I would like to know how i can make aburn a mis cd while using the numark mixer. Is that possible with just the mixer and my computer or do I need more equipment?

Hey Murf,
Just got home from N'Orlins. Gosh what a place. To burn a cd you need a cd burner. PleXWriter is a dependable and fairly cheap burner that you install in your computer just like a cd player. You can use the Numark directly into your soundcard if it has a line in. You can record on the windows sound recorder directly from you Numark and then use a burner to make the cd. If you want a better quality recording you will have to get some software for recording, mixing and mastering. There is a free program on the home page here that you can download that will give you an idea of what you can do. This bbs is a great source of info on recording so read, read then read somemore. Thanks for answering my question promptly. I am not sure if I havethe windows recording program. I have Windows xp, and I cannotfind a program(yet.) I do have burner capabilities. What would be the name of the program on windos I could use to record mixer to file. I have been to a music store and they recommended a program called soundforge, is that a good program? Thanks again NYmorningstar for replying. Next time to in New Orleans let me know, we can hang out, catch a show.

Try out this link to learn about sound forge. I know nothing about it. I use a program called Cubase to record with. It lets you record using a midi as does cakewalk I believe. The windows program is called sound recorder. The program you choose to use should depend upon what you want to do right now and you want to keep an open end because your preferences may change with time. Take your time before you invest. There's plenty of free programs to try out and lots to learn about recording. The Homerecording sight is full of info for you to learn. Good luck with it. Did I mention my wife got me to eat some crawfish?

Spinsterwun, thanks for replying and I will check out the book. I have checked out the program at Guitar Center. They said it would cost about $140.00 Is there anywhere i can look for a cheaper price?
