Question Tascam TM-D1000

I have a D1000 and the instruction book says it a 16 channel mixer, but I only have 8 inserts how would I go about using the 16 channel feature?

thanks for any help, sorry if this question was answerd before.

The tm-d1000 has 8 analog in's, but also has 8 channels of t/dif, in or out, depending on mixer settings. If you recieved the vhs tutorial that came with the mixer, check it out a few times, it helps. Below is a link to the Tascam digital mixers bbs, do a search there for lots mo' info.
