Question what kind of cords?

With my Tascam 414 MKII, is there a certain type of cord, (the black cords with a red & white connector @ both ends.... not sure the proper name for them), that should be used? I know I can get unwanted noise if my mic cords aren't shielded. How about these other 'red & white end' cords; should they be shielded? I picked them up from Radio Shack a while back & I don't remember reading if they were shielded or not.

One more question,..... When I record my band playing, I'd like to record all the tracks @ one time but with each instrument and the singers assigned to different tracks. Will I get 'bleed through' from the other instruments/sounds in the room? In other words, when I've got my condenser mics over-head @ the drum set, how can I avoid it picking up the guitar, singing, & piano sounds?

to cut down on bleed on the drum mics you would have put some sort of baffle around the drum set ,(wall, even blankets)or put the kit in another room.

sounds like your talking 'bout your basic RCA type connectors, like what would plug into your line out on your 414. The ones you have should be fine.

The red and white connectors (they're called RCA plugs) are stereo audio cables. I don't know about your particular model, but my old Tascam Porta 03 accepts only 1/4" non-RCA plugs; i.e., the same type you plug into an amplifier.
