From the overly confused producer: does anyone know of a good sound converter?

i have a pc (like a million others on this planet) and i'd like to take .wav files and other file formats and covert them into .snd files so my MPC2000 will read them.

i've tried awave 6.0 and it's cool but when it converts the file, it compresses it down to about half of the size which results in the sample (or file) being played about ten times faster than it orignally was before. this makes the sample unusable.

i've also tried goldwave, but my MPC won't read a .snd file i tried to convert from that program.

so does anyone out there know of any others i can find on-line that will do the trick??

Hey try the awave6.0 again... I haven't ever used the software but the problem sounds like it is the sample rate. When the program converts the file it might be compressing it to a lower rate to save on disk space(factory defaults). Try changing the sample rate to 44.1 khz..... I think...

that makes a lot of sense joe, but i tried to change the settings for that, and still no luck. i know that it is something simple with that particular program, but i just don't know what it is. i've just downloaded cool edit pro, and thought that it might be the answer, only to find out that the save option has been disabled......"screwed"

does anyone else know of any other programs out there in cyberspace that could accomplish what i'm trying to do?????

If yer' pokin around the internet, check out synthzone.com. Look up the manufacturer of your MPC (is it Akai? brain lapse, sorry). From there they link you to both corporate pages which may offer utilities, as well as "fan" pages which may be a source of information/utilities for you. Maybe not in this case, but it's worth a shot, and you may come across some cool stuff related to your MPC.

i've had the same problems with awave, man.
i there should be an 800 # on their web site or something. if they are promoting a product, it should work the way the advertise.
