I'm interested in buying a laptop for recording the band I'm currently in. I'm a bass player and don't plan on using any MIDI interfaces. My question is should I buy hardware that supports USB, a PCSI card (like VX pocket), or should I wait until a product uses firewire. From what I understand, firewire will be the standard in the future because of its remarkable speed. If you have any suggestions please recommend a product.

I have a feeling you're going to be waiting a long time unless you're buying a macintosh. There's nothing wrong with USB.
