Replacement Tapes For Echoplex

I've always wanted an old echoplex, and always loved that sound, but have shied away from them partly out of concern that it's impossible to find replacement tapes. Does anyone know if there is a standard type of tape that can be used (1/8" etc.) or does it have to be only a specific cartridge made by Echoplex?

It wasn't a cartridge, just a loop of 1/4" tape.

The one that had the open tape threaded was probably a roland space echo.The echoplex used a cartridge.Here is one place to get them link
