Angry Cakewalk Hanging

I'm running both CW Home Studio 02 and Express 8.0 BOTH of them are hanging about 8 out of ten times that I try to start them from the start menu or explorer. They either crash out (not responding) or just stop startup.

I'm running 900mhz (AMD) at 256 RAM.

Anyone have this problem?

ok,
things have definately gotten worse over here.
now getting a <unknown error in sequencer dll> messege whenever I double click.

Downloading new Direct8 as i think dll files are media type extentions. Why is this happening now?

I had similar troubles when I first installed Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 a couple of years ago. I performed what Cakewalk Tech Support refered to as a clean uninstall and reinstall, or something like that... check this item at the Cakewalk website:

DL'ed DX8.a and reinstalled CWHS and seems to have resolved the problem. Cakewalk tech support page was helpful, thanks. Reminded me to turn off background programs that can be so bothersome.

I have yet to get in touch with Cakewalk on the phone. Hung on the line for 10 minutes before being disconnected, another 10 told it was the wrong number and then 16 minutes of waiting with no luck. very bad. maybe email support will be more helpful.

Now that I'm up and running with HS I have to say I'm liking the way it's going. It's giving me some good new flexibility with my old wrk files from CW Express. I like the envelope controls in HS not very different but more refined. also like increased waveform view options.

Thumbs up Cakewalk Solutions

JUST WANTED TO SHARE THE RELATIVELY PROMPT AND QUITE HELPFUL RESPONSE FROM CAKEWALK REGARDING MY PROBLEMS WITH START UP HANGING

It sounds like an IRQ conflict. Go to Start | Settings | Control
Panels | System | Device Manager and double click on Computer. Make sure that your USB Port, sound and video cards are not sharing IRQ numbers with any other device. PCI steering should be OK. If they are you can should locate a number that doesn't appear in the list and change it to that number. If you need help doing this, then you should contact your computer manufacturer for instructions on changing the IRQ. If that is not the case, then it sounds as if your soundcard/midi Interface drivers are corrupt or outdated. Download and install the latest drivers from your soundcard manufacturer's website. Then, delete the files AUD.INI and TTSSEQ.INI located in your Cakewalk folder on your hard drive.

AND FOR SEQUENCER DLL ERROR MESSEGE THAT CAME LATER>>>

It sounds as if your soundcard/midi Interface drivers are corrupt or outdated. Download and install the latest drivers from your soundcard manufacturer's website, or if you have the latest drivers, reinstall the ones that you have. Then, delete the files AUD.INI and TTSSEQ.INI located in your Home Studio folder on your hard drive. Then, under Options | Midi Devices, make sure that Midi Mapper and any Wave/Soft synth is not selected. Instead, select the Midi Synth for the internal sounds or the Midi Out/MPU401 if you have an external midi device. Next, under Options | Audio | Drivers, only select your Soundcard wave
in and out, do not select any voice modems or other drivers.
