Are the makers of Cakewalk smoking crack?

I was on the Cakewalk web site today, check for news & updates & such. I wandered into their "hardware guide" page and ran accross the following strange quote -

"Please Note: Only SONAR and SONAR XL are capable of record and playback using multiple inputs and outputs. The maximum amount of inputs or outputs that our other programs will use is 2/2. Make sure that the capabilities of the Cakewalk software you own or intend to own are compatible with the audio hardware you are considering."

(This is from http://www.cakewalk.com/Tips/audiohw.htm )

This is quite amusing since I regularly record and play back 8 tracks of audio into Cakewalk Pro 9. While I would love to upgrade from Cakewalk to Sonar, and from Win 98 to Win 2000, there are no WDM drivers for my Gadget Labs card and never will be, since they are out of business. So I'm stuck until I get enough $$$$ for a new audio card.

I can understand that they want people to upgrade to a newer product, and they are trying to make a $$$ living like everyone else. But to stoop to lying about their own legacy product in order to push sales? What the hell is up with this?????

RWhite,

I think they are refering only to their current products and not their legacy ones.
Otherwise they would have to compare it to Pro Audio 8, and Pro Audio 7, and so on.

RWhite,

Well, they don't sell Cakewalk Pro Audio any more, so I guess it's valid to put it that way...

I believe Cakewalk is referring to Home Studio 2002 not their other high end products. The HS programs can only use 2/2.
