Tascam M1600--any good?

Anybody have any experience with the M1600 mixer?

Looks like a good board, but a friend of mine said it's nickname is the Trashcam, something to do with the EQs. He says they aren't very "sharp." But he produces a lot of electronic music (drum-n-bass, techno, etc) and I'm not sure if he's just giving it an unfair review due to the fact that the EQs can't deliver the harsh sound he needs for his music.

I record rock and want warmth, not biting harshness.

Well, if anyone has anything they can tell me about the M1600 (how good the pres are, how noisy it is, whatever) that would be cool.
