playback/recording sssttttuttering

Hey maybe some of you vets can help this noob out. I'm having trouble with stuttering during playback and recording after 3 or 4 audio tracks. neither meter gets above 10% and the actual data is fine just stutters when reading it. I was overclocking but set it straight and problem didn't go away. I guess it is just a matter of figuring out the best audio settings for my specs (i.e. buffer I/O buffer size, enable/disable read/write caching, buffers in playback, aux busses). If you need anymore info let me know.

first of all, go through the steps described in cakewalk's help file.
if that doesn't solve the problem, come back here, and use the search function.
i'm sure you'll find a lot of threads with configuration tips, and walkthroughs to solve stuttering problems.
check out the faqs on cakewalk.com too, and there's also a couple of articles on http://www.prorec.com about tuning windows for audio.
if none of it helps, post again, and make sure to email cakewalk, even though they'll take a week to reply.
hope this helps.

Thanks again postalblue. All I needed was some windows tweaking and everything works absurdly well. I opened a big project and threw on about 30 effects and didn't get stutter one. Thank you and thanks to everyone who makes this forum such a priceless tool.
