My arrangement of Amazing Grace: funk/fusion
Hey there,
This arrangement of mine was recorded live back in October 2001, with my band, I'm playing the live guitar melodies and solos, then I added a rhythm guitar part in post-production before the C.D. was released... Amazing Grace-funk/fusion It's quite fun... Enjoy... Peace, Scott |

A little more info...
This recording was from a benefit concert back in October 2001 held at my church, for the benefit of the Backstoppers of NYC (the foundation that takes care of families of fallen Emergency workers, in this case of 9-11's WTC attack)...
We raised over $10,000 that night in tickets sales and donations... A C.D. was recorded and released with this and many other songs... The band, is the band at my church of which I'm the leader, guitarist and arranger...and I've been privileged to work with most of them for 12 years... We have a weekly attendance of 5000... Just some extra info... Peace, Scott |

and this version just kicks some serious booty. for all that haven't listened to Scotts stuff...your missing some serious quality stuff. You know, struggling to get a decent recorded sound has gotten a lot easier, imo nowadays...But being a master of your instrument and arranging/writing skills still takes some dedication and time....both which are obvious from hearing the way this "shredder" can play. It's too alluring to tune your gtr down a whole step, chunk away some neat sounding chords, get a killer bass sound and drums, but to sit and play your instrument and be a musician's musician is another feat. My hat's off to you Scott for some quality stuff that is another league here at homerecording.com
(and I'm not bowing down to someone who puts a couple of tensions on their triads, either )btw, there's no need to critique this guys stuff, because it's all top notch, and any difference of opinion would be just that...just an opinion....but you'll probably won't envision the final product as good as this guy will....at least in my opinion. A+ dude.... ![]() |

It's really more fusion than Vai, but heck, I'll take the comparison! Yeah the musicplayer forum seems a little full of itself sometimes, but there are some good folks over there... Peace, Scott |

wow, that was fantastic! i like your guitar playing, very nice vibrato. what were you plugged into? i was doing a session last week and we had a Line 6 in the studio with a very similar sound to that.
very well recorded/mixed, if anything, maybe a tad more low end in the kick drum, but other than that, really really really good job mate! nice one. so did you produce that all yourself, or was it a few people doing it, or what?! what desk did you mix on? good job, keep up the fantastic work! -Romesh

I really appreciate your time! The guitar sound was indeed a Line 6 POD (great ear, you have)... I helped mix and produce with the engineer, Ron Krause... Besides being recorded to 48 track Mackie Hard Disc, the following link will give you a better idea of the gear used... Our Equipment Again, thank you so much for your kind words... Peace, Scott |

Great, Scott!
Sounds like something my church would do. You can check out the charts they play where I go at Willow Charts. Churches certainly are getting advanced in the sound department(as they should be, God's house deserves the best equipment IMO. Not to say that churches who can't afford a Midas or a Series 5 aren't worth attending of course). They house 2 96 input Yamahas(PM1Ds) where I attend.

I've been to Willow Creek many, many times...! You guys have a great church up there! I love Bill Hybels... And a couple of your tech directors came from Grace... If I'm ever up there I'll e-mail you... Yeah, we're just very blessed with good gear, but it's certainly not the THING itself, and not a requirement for a church to minister to people... And thanks so much for listening... Peace, Scott |
