maximising equipment

I just learned today that its not really the equipment but the user.

A fellow student came in and made a hard track using just the jv1010, and I was like, GOSH , I didnt know my jv1010 could sound like that.

Anyhow, just jv1010 and the vocals with blueberry with no eq(except in the first verse.

WHO MADE US?

Plugins and digitsal still stink

Hey, Gidge, I have posted a vocal mix. I thought the vox was a bit low too.

MAn, I used to love the sm58 on vocals, but when I hear the smoothness of this condenser I get excited.

No compression on the track or eq. One thing I like is that everything sounds more coherent because I only used one reverb.

Thanks for the comment. THat makes me happy, even though I wanting to get much better.

Cool

yeah better...so i burnt a CD and lsitened on my little home stereo and i think the low end may need some tightening up......if i keep the eq curve where i have it for songs of this genre, the bass seems to be break up a bit....maybe someone with better judgement can offer up some info...im still learning the low end on my ProtoJ's.....

now that the vocal is louder, wash his mouth out with soap.....

Nice Cyan. Massive bass.. I'd have to 'tape' it to MD and take it out to my Dynaudios to really hear what's going on down there..

The rap is DAMN good, tho I think you should compess it a bit.

..and.. that flute's gotta go...

hey gidge,

thanks. The low end is quite flabby. I think its the particular sound we used. I tried to compress it but I was not getting anywhere.

Meshuggah, thanks
The vocal needs compression, or to be redone, or both. THe guy was drunk and insited on doing the verses in one take, not that I minded. I hate punching in phrase by phrase. I think the reason its so smooth is because I did not use plugins though.
