How would I go about making a CD without the typical 3 second skips between tracks?

I remember reading a post here about it, but I couldn't find it when I went back a few pages. So I'm reposing the question: How do I burn a CD that has no pauses inbetween the tracks? Like Common's latest CD, it has no stops between tracks. It keeps running like a tape player would, even though the track # changes. I notice a lot of mix CD's feature this method as well. How can I do it? Is it possible on a home CPU?

you can't be runnin them beats straight......Those beats are too hot you'll wind up givin muthafu**as a heart attack if you play them straight....they won't know what to do wit all them smooth beats....

Yeah like Cwadron said man, you need a wave editing program like Wavelab. I use Wavelab and like it alot. Not only can you implement some "mastering" type processing on your final mixdown, or any part for that matter, but it also has real cool burning software. Granted I just got WL like a month ago and haven't gotten to the nitty-gritty with the burning part of it, but from what I've read/heard it's really flexible: you can crossfade from one track to the next in any way you choose, set where the track splits will be registered, etc. So basically that's what ya need! I'm sure SPIN will be a long right quick and hit you up with some links to some shareware sites, I think it's hitsquad.com yo' lookin for.

-but if i understand your ques? right...you wanna record a cd with no spaces between the tracks

-this is simple...if u have a cd burning program like Nero or EZCD creator, then there is an option to do that built in

-the only thing i can see anybody using a wave editor for is to clean up the tracks....lets say you got a song with a "pop" or crackle" at the beginnin you wanna get rid of or you want to do a clean fade out or something

Man Wavelab has burning software too, that was my point, might as well have a wave editor to finalize your mixes AND burning software in one package. Nero is supposedly good for burning too.

When you are burning the CD, make sure you're useing the "disc at once" option. If not, it'll turn the laser off between tunes which creates that 3 second gap.
