Question Which Powered Monitor to buy?

Hello,

I'm looking for advice on which powered monitors to get for my home recording studio. I'm looking for accuracy over power, as my studio is not terribly big. Also, my stuido is computer-based, so electromagnetic shielding will be important (although from what I've seen, just about every decent monitor provides em shielding these days).

I picked up the small studiophile monitors from M-audio, but I'm not finding them satisfactory. My headphones sound MUCH better. I'm planning on returning them and getting something better.

At any rate I'm looking to spend around, but not much more than $300 for each monitor and like I said, it's the sound quality that I care about more than the power.

A few that I've been looking at include:

KRK V4
JBL LSR25P
Fostex PM-1
YAMAHA MSP5

I'm leaning towards the JBLs at this point, but I'm hoping I can get some advice from this board first.

Any advice appreciated,

Thanks!

Studiophile

Well, first of all, I get occasional popping. It's subtle, but it's definitely there. Also, I find that most of the subtle high tones of strings and espeically piano are somewhat lost on the studiophiles. The bass is ok, but nothing spectacular. However, since I only paid less than $150 per monitor, there really isn't that much to complain about. I got them because the were really cheap and I wanted to try them.
