Thumbs down What do you hate about spinning in clubs????

I'll start it off.....

I HATE it when a club patron asks me to play a different format of music, when I have the dance floor PACKED.

The thing that has me p*ssed off, was that I was playing some "House Music", Saturday night. I had about 350 to 500 people on the dance floor. It's about 3 o'clock in the morning, what we call "Prime Time".

Then, a patron came into the dj booth and asked me...."Can you play some Brittney Spears OR Backstreet Boys", for me?

I'm like WHAT THE F*CK!?!?!? Don't you see that the dance floor is packed! And you want me to just "kill the crowd", just so YOU can hear M*THAF*CKIN' Britney Spears?!?!?!?!!!!!

The audacity of these people........

I just needed to vent!

Angry omg they asked for WHAT ??

Let it out ! They piss me off when they even come into the booth-
that's off limits.
Cons are : Bad sound system inlcuding dj equip, Club owner and staff hates your music, and you are given a few drik tickets to use !!! ... what we put up with for some money I guess.
Thanks SPinster - i need to vent too.

Yeah.. FUCKING WANK FUCKING STUPID FUCKING CLUB OWNERS!!
Fucking morons..
"Our policy is not to play too much techno music, will you please change the style?" And people are booming on the floors having a great time, but let's just spoil that so they'll all leave the floor and go to the bar and drink cause the music sucks.. worst part is that the fucking dj gets all the blame..

In one of the clubs in our town they even make us write a contract where we agree not to play any techno that isn't chart related..
FUCKING ****S!

Or the owner will say .....(in whinny voice) "Turn the bass down .... or...... turn the music down".

WHAT THE F*CK??????

It's a club, for christs sake, the music is supposed to be LOUD.

House, Techno? See I'm not really into much of that, so I guess I have a different perspective. I like to play stuff that has more groove. My beats are almost always based on breaks, funk, or hip-hop. Danceable, but with grrrrroooooovvvve

Anyhow, without fail I get some winy fuck (mostly white or Asian women for some reason???) who comes up and say "Can't you play something that's easier to dance to?" I usually just ignore them, because if I opened my mouth it would probably come out like "Get out of my face you mindless fucking moron! And learn how to dance!!!"

If EVERY SINGLE FUCKING BEAT isn't accompanied with a floor kick are they completely lost??? I mean are people so fucking rhythmically retarded!!!???

No offense to the House and Techno spinners, but any more than an hour of 4/4 beats and I'm bored - no matter how pumpin' the tracks are. I guess this goes against "the customer is always right" philosophy. Good thing I have a day job.

Ahhhh.... good vent Thanks for readin'

if people can't dance to breakbeat then they should stay the hell away from the dancefloor.. i allways incorporate breakbeat in my sets.. curcuit boy, similar and techno beats with breaks.. i mean.. if you can't dance to azzido da bass - dooms night, then you're a fucking moron.. hehehe.. ahhh...

Is breakbeat where the dancing part lasts like 20 seconds and then the music stops and everyone on the dance floor mills around in an ecstacy induced haze and some guy comes over the pa using a vox synthesizer that makes him sound like devil saying shit like

"Feel the power"
"Feel the beat"

then slowly build up for another minute while people wave their glowsticks

Dance for 20 seconds

Lather, rinse, repeat

I play a little of it.....but I don't truly care for it.

Sorry.....

what progressive 'you spin m8? with u coming from the us 'n all, i find it hard to believe it's worth listening to got some shitty progressive producers and djs over there..

you should check out stuff like H-Bomb - Groove Attack, Halo Varga - Future, El Greco - Night Watch, Ballroom - Passenger (the remixes of course), Supercruizer - Supercruiser, Elting-Lieb - Flexible, Flight Attendants - Schuber/Umkehrschub, Paul Brtschitsch - Eternal, Lab Rats - Suzi
... i could keep on going..

btw.. you should check out Elting-Lieb - Flexible (not Stable for gods sake, that's one shitty b-side) and Paul Brtschitsch - Eternal (read. Dirk Diggler remix!) just to get totally blown away by the complexity of the sounds and the arrangements..

I was able to find downloadable clips of these tracks:
Supercruiser - Supercruiser, Supercruizer - Parashooting [Dirk Diggler Remix,] Supercruiser - Phoenix Rising [Paul Brtschitsch Remix], Elting + Lieb - Pacemaker

Decent quality Tech House. Not my thing, but I could stand an hour set of this sort.

Also found a few tracks from Flight Attendants - Schuber/Umkehrschub on mp3.com.

Thanks for pointers Chriss! Whether I'm very into the style or not, I'm always happy to learn about new music.

that's some stupid copycat.. maybe i should tell the Klicker crew to sue his ass.. that's not the real Flight Attendants it's only out on vinyl from Klicker Germany.. maybe you can find a demo on www.juno.co.uk

weird thing btw.. the track people are so crazy about from F.A. is the track they think is called "Schuber" .. well on the vinyl, Schuber is actually the B-Side while the track you hear at the clubs is really called "Umkehrschub".. it's only on compilation CD's and shit they made a mistake about it, and now everybody calls Umkehrschub for Schuber...

It's been many a years since I did any spinning in a club.
Must of been back in the mid 70s when I last did it.

I got a chance to see Sly and the Family Stone in Washington DC when I lived in Alexandria. The old woman, my x, and me took off to the club and it was jamin' and packed.

I've never been a real good dancer, more like a disjointed pinocchio, ya know.
Any way, I was dancing and drinking some Rolling Rock and kinda watching this guy behind the old woman doing his thing. He was tearing up the dance floor, splits, twirls, jumps. Really good.

I got into the act to. I did a spin. I lost my balance and begin teedering off to one side and the back of my hand caught the old woman smack upside the head.

Put her butt out cold. The band cracked up laughing so hard they had to stop. So did everyone else. I joined in the laughing too.
Sly finally got the band back to playing.
When I looked down at the old woman again she was glaring at me, and I quickly put on my sorrow look.
I helped her up to her feet and she hauled off and punched me in the crotch. I dropped to my knees and she stormed outta the place. Everyone lost it again.

I didn't think that was too funny. I never did anymore spinning in a club. Or in private.
