GT Electronics mics vs. MXL V67 - opinions?

Does anybody know much about GT Electronics mics? ZZsounds is featuring them as "deals" but I don't know anything about them. I was planning on buying a MXL V67 for vocal and acoustic instrument recording, but I saw that the GT AM51 is about $10 cheaper and has some nicer specs. For instance, the AM51's diaphragm is 3 microns while the V67 is 6 microns.

I have no experience with the Marshall mics so I can't comment. I do own an AM-52 and it's a damn fine mic. Not my first choice for vocals but it's a real workhorse elsewhere. It's multi pattern, which is the big advantage for me. Depending on what you have in mind in a microphone the 51 may or may not be what you're looking for. If you're looking for primarily a vocal mic, IMHO, in that price range there might be better performers out there than the 51. The 52 on the other hand, because of its multi pattern capabilities is hard to beat. YMMV.

The marshall sounds great. I've never heard the GT mics, but i do have a v67 and have been very happy with it. If you search around, there have been some shootouts including the v67 and compared with alot of mics in its class and even more expensive, it holds its own really well

good luck,
Brandon

Thumbs up

I just got a pair of am-52's from ams. Am still new to them but so far I think they are great mics, well worth the money and then some. I have a freind that brought over an am-11 awhile back and I really liked it too.

Cool

actually, the v67 is $129 at Mars, so thats $20 cheaper than the AM51....im not familiar at all with GT mics, so ican comment much on them besides the fact that i rarely hear anything bad about them.....my v67 rocks.....
