Tascam 424 mkII to Powermac G4 (CD/RW)

I have a CD burner that came with my PowerMac G4 and a Tascam 424 mkII. I'd like to create/mix tracks and burn to CD. Because the PowerMac doesn't have sound input, I'm looking at buying an Audiophile 2496 PCI card.

My questions:

o If I buy the Audiophile, can I hook the Tascam directly to the L/R RCA
input jacks on the 2496 without sound loss and/or distortion?

o If I use Cubase VST which has effects you can add, can I send effects
back to the Tascam or do I have to purchase a sound processor
(e.g. Alesis Nanoverb) to get reverb/chorus effects on the tracks before
mixing them down to my Mac?

o Anyone know if Pro/Tools software works with the Audiophile card?

You can in fact record from your tascam to the audiophile. no sweat. Will not effect the quality at all. However you can record sraight to the card in 24bit.
The cubase program will have built in DSP and you can use the effects on your master mix. From there you can write straight to disc. You will have to dither down to 16bit before writing.

I was going to say the same thing Stealthtech said.

I would stress the fact that you'd be better off, just recording straight into the MAC.

Also, don't forget to convert from 24bit to 16bit before burning to CD.
