Question Another one of those "What do I need" questions...

I'm not sure how to phrase this question, I'm not sure of terminology, so I'll skip it, and try to break it down simple:

My friend has an old Akai sampler, the kind with keyboard. He can record a snip of a piano, or what have you, and distribute that evenly throughout the keys.

I've got a Midiman Keystation, built in midi, and I want to do the same thing. I'm not into sequencing or anything, but I don't really want synth sounds (no offense do those who do). I'm looking for the correct, and best program to do so.

Thanks, you's guys are always helpful...
Jacob

You say what you dont want but not what you do want.

I'm guessing you want to play acoustic type sounds using your midi controller.

You can either get a SOUND MODULE ( a midi controlled rack mount keyboard brain that plays sound but has no keys) or another keyboard that has the sounds you want.

Or a software sampler that plays off your computer when connected to your midi controller.

Need more info for a more detailed response.

Cool

Aw, I thought it was clear when I said "I'm looking for the correct, and best program to do so. "

The "to do" is to use a "a snip of a piano, or what have you, and distribute that evenly throughout the keys" which is what you guessed, perhaps I beat around the bush too much...

Thanks
Jacob
