Recording From My Stereo TapeDeck

I hooked up the output from my tapedeck (JVC)nto my soundcard in-line plug. Ditto from the CD out and ditto for the record out from my Stereo enroute to my tape deck.I am using MusicMatch JukeboxPlus, latest version. The mp3's I get are very distorted and seemed to be playing back faster than the original. I took the output directly from my turntable (before the stereo pre-amp) and got a good recording. Can anyone explain what is going on? Is it possible that the output from my tapedeck is too high (decibell wise) to get a good input to my soundcard?

Fangar will become famous soon enough
Sounds like you need to adjust the recording volume in the computer. If you are running windows, you should be able to right click on the little speaker to the right lower corner on the task bar. Select open voulme controls. Fiddle with the Line in Settings. That should do the trick. The speed thing may be a little harder. Could be that your Bit-rate conversion is silly.

What kind of soundcard do you have? Are you possibly using the mic in?

Yeah, like AlChuck said, make sure you are going into the LINE IN, not the MIC IN.

And also, like Fangar said, check your VOLUME PROPERTIES.

peace.......
