What do you think should be next??

Hi there, So far in my "studio" I have the following:

Computer, 50mb Ram, 160mhz, etc, etc.
Mackie 1202 Micro series
Event Darla 2 in/8 outs
AKG K240 headphones (for monitors)

Mics:
C1000s
SM57's
BETA 58

What I want is your opinion on what to get next. Here is what I have thought of:

30band EQ
ART MP tube preamp
Compressor
Studio Monitors (Event 20/20's or something similar)
Large diaphram mic - (AT4033, Rode NT2, whatever)

Have any ideas?? Thank you.

By the way I am recording stuff like celtic music, acoustic guitar and vocal stuff.

Do you have a software program for recording? If not, I would get one and learn how to use it. If you have one and are pretty farmiliar with it, I would go with some moniters, but that;s just my opinion. All of your ideas will come in handy eventually.

A good compressor is a must in my opinion and also a nice effects processor(s). High quality cabling.Dont skimp on the cheap items.Large diaphram mic is a good idea too.

If you're doing Celtic and acoustic, the good mic should be #1 IMHO, since everything else can be added later, but once it's recorded, it's forever.

Thanx. For those of you who were talking with me on my last post about how my darla card didn't work, heres an update:

I phoned the warranty office place and without any hesitations, they said they would send me a new card!! Pretty cool!!

Anyways, I think what I'm going to add to my studio is a Tube pre-amp and a Audio Technica 4033. I've recorded with mic before I think it has an awsome sound for its price. Someone I talked to said that he likes his 4033 better than most of his Neumann's! I'm going to mix something soon and upload it for everyone to listen to and critisize.

Is there anyone out there that has a setup simalar to mine? I would like to hear from you.

Adam, half of your shopping list can be eliminated with a software editing program. EQ...bah. Software will cover it. Compressor. not all bad, but will also be negated with a good plug in. Monitors are a must. Event 20/20 are wonderful, as are the Alesis monitor ones. what you may want to look into is an external HD or an ADAT to take some of the burden off your systems CPU. Honestly your processor is a bit small for many applications. and external sources (Hard drive or DAT) can save a lot of hunting and spinning of the PC wheels.
