Help Please!!

Hi all and sorry for this repost but I need help...

I'm a voiceover artist, hubby's a guitarist/composer and I'm trying to
put together a system that I can do voiceovers on and he can do
multi-tracking on and I'm really in the dark about most of this stuff.
My pc info: Pentium III/500MHz... 128 meg ram... 12 gig hard drive(not SCSI unfortunately)... zip drive for storing audio files... Soundblaster PCI128 sound card.

We are currently looking at the Mackie 1202 mixer and Cool Edit Pro software for now, and are also planning to install burner. We already have some decent mic's (Electrovoice RE-20 for my voiceover work and several SM-57's and 58's)

My dumb questions are: How the heck do we hook the Mackie mixer up to the soundcard for recording and playback??

Can we use the soundcard we have now or do we need another one with more bells and whistles?? If so, any recommendations?

What other stuff are we going to need to accomplish a bit of home PC recording?

that sounds like a good set up.. if you like mackie mixers , and the cool edit software...then go for it...all you need to do is hook your mixer to your soundcard... if you look on the back of your computer...you should have a line in jack on your sound card.. just take the output from your mixer get the proper converter plugs , and plug it in..if its a little 1/8 inch headphone jack , you might want to purchase a new soundcard... or..if you have the cash..you might wanna do it anyway..it will reduce noise , and give you a really good clean sound... not to mention that good sound cards do alot of processing themselves , and it takes a load off your computers processor... if you have a small mixer , and your content with it , then a soundcard with 2 inputs shpould do you just fine.. look for the darla 24 card by event.. it has 2 balanced inputes and 6 balanced outs in its own break out box.. it goes for about 350 american... go to www.event1.com for more info... hope this helps...if you have any other questions...just ask...
