i got some disks for my mpc today, the problem is they're hard disk and not zip and i have an internal zip drive wit my mpc, i tried using the disk in my computer and it won't open any of the sound files, how do i get these sounds to my mpc?????

i dont have akai disks, but cd's and zip's are formated with a unique akai format. There are programs for reading akai cd's at a pc. maybe they also work on floppies...

would you know a place to get this program........ if i got this program, what do i do after that, burn the sound files then sample them?????????? i'd like to use these disk directly with my akai. When i got the mpc, a sound library disk came with it that works with my zip drive, and it's got a ton of sounds plus programs that are disks that akai sells, i wonder that the deal with that is???????????

HOW DO SAVE FILES IF I HAVE AN INTERNAL ZIP DRIVE WITH MY MPC???? DO I GET AN EXTERNAL ZIP DRIVE TO TRANSFER FILES TO COMPUTER???? WOULD THESE BE WAV FILES???? ANYONE KNOW???

oki the (hopefully) full explaination:

1.) Use AKAIdisk or simmilar program to copy your programs from your floppy to your harddisk

2.) You have to transfer these data from your PC to your MPC. This can be done by:

a) Saving your data to ZIP with AKAIdisk (if you have a ZIP on your PC)

b) Reading your program from your PC's hdd if you have a SCSI system

c) Transfere your program via MIDI-dump. This is the slowest way but DEFINITELY works.

Yesss, the internal memory is the origin of all sound u can hear. an mpc has a view MB internal ram in the standard configuration (depending on the model)

The sounds on your zip drive have to be loaded into your internal memory. Normaly this step is transparent for u, this meens u dont have to matter if programm 7 has been loaded to memory or not - the mpc loads it if it isn't currently in memory and there is space left.

HMMMPFFFF "rtfm" (read the f**ckn manual). Okay i simply dont know all the details of an mpc since i only use an Akai 3200 Sampler, who has the same disks, the same cd's and the same zips.

But maybe there is a newbie lesson for mpc somewhere on the net. There is one person who definitely knows where u have to search =>
