70s consumer reel-to-reels
Some of these high-end consumer open-reel decks from Sony, Akai, Pioneer etc from the mid-late 70s look rather interesting. Interesting specs as well (the Pioneer claims 20-28KHz freq response at 71/2 ips!!!!). Has anybody ever used some of them? Worth a punt at around a 100 bucks?

Sure. Why not. I have a "vintage" Teac A7010 that sounds decent enough but I wouldn't use it as a mix down machine (tape hiss). If you get one with three heads you can make a tape delay out of it.
