Splitting Stereo track into 2 mono?

Greetings all...

I am working with PA v9 and have a unique problem: We are importing Stereo wav files (exported from Roland VS1680 via CD) and need to split the right from the left channels because each stereo pair has 2 instruments (ie. Track #1= Snare(Left), Kick (Right)).
I can't seem to find a way in CW PA 9 to accomplish this!
If there is anyone out there who knows how to accomplish this, I would be greatly in your debt...
If not, is there any other (cost-effective) program that can do this for me??

I don't know your definition of cost effective, but I believe Wavelab has this capability.

However, here's a suggestion to try. I don't know if it will work, but it won't cost you anything.

What if you fully panned the track hard left and then exported the track to a new mono .wav file. Then repeat the same thing with the track panned hard right.

After that you can simply re-import the two newly created .wav's, and delete the stereo track.

(I'm at work now and don't have access to my DAW, otherwise I would have tried it first before suggesting it.)

I haven't used PA9 in many months since I moved to Sonar but I'm pretty sure you can do this.

You need to create 2 -mono- audio tracks with the inputs set one to L channel and one to R channel.

If for some reason that doesn't work, export the stereo track from PA9 as a split stereo signal.. then bring each back in.

I think that should work. I have a 1680 too and I transfer stuff all the time.

...and thanks for your suggestion Tim, but I'm not going directly from the VS to Cakewalk...I'm "importing" (ripping) the tracks off of an audio CD I created with the VS...which limits my input/output without say, re-recording them in CW from a player (adding noise, time, etc).

Just as a followup for anyone interested...FWIW:

The CW9 manual (p 4-30) states that you can import a WAV file as a single stereo, single mono...OR, as 2 seperate mono tracks by checking the "stereo split box" option when the file is inserted.

I'm going to try this first as I'll be inserting dozens of files and should (x-fingers) save lotso time.
