Question Multi channel audio cards with old software

New user here. Please be gentle...
I'm (still) using some old software. Guitar Tracks 2 and Guitar Studio 2 on a Win95(OSR2) box. I'm hoping to upgrade to a multi channel audio card real_soon_now. Is there any card that will work with my antique software, or do I have to upgrade Cakewalk (& my OS)?

O/S may be an issue since not many people are writing or supporting Win95 drivers any more. However you may get lucky depending on which card you buy.

Some multi-channel audio cards come with free multi-track software that's better than what you're using now.

Smile Try this link

I think that echo/events cards support windows 95. You will need Direct updated, but thos should come with the card. I do not know how the software bundle compares to your program though.

Try this link www.echoaudio.com

I'm sure there are others that do Win95. It is still pretty well used. by people so they would shut off a big market to not offer a driver for it.?.?

Later F.S.

Thanks for the advice. I checked Echo Audio and
M-Audio and they both have products with Win95 drivers. I also learned that my Cakewalk software does not support more than 2in/2out so the question is moot now I guess. Looks like I'll be shopping for some new software too.

Thumbs up Max

I think you have the right Idea. Don't buy a sound card because of your software specs, buy more and you can always upgrade software later. Echo may be a bit over priced for what you can get away with but the specs are very good. I have another link for you to check out. This is a sound card testing link. The main page is www.pcrecording.com and this link tells what each sound card has on it http://www.pcrecording.com/soundtable.htm this link rates them. http://www.pcavtech.com/soundcards/compare/index.htm

all are usefull. The sound card rating link above does not seem to incude mark of the unicorn, These are said to be very good so I don't know why they are not listed?

Later, and good luck
