buying module and controller,,,,no clue..

Well i'm lookin for a great industrial sound, and I've found this one orange one that rocks. I forgot what it's called, but it has basically all industrial sounds, but I have no clue what controller to get. I want it to feel like a piano, and to be 1000 dollar minus. I want it to have good dynamics and feel and have no clue what to get.

you can get some really, really heavy duty midi controllers for 300- bucks i just can't remember what the fuck they were called.. argh.. anyway.. you can get 'em all the way from 70$..

What orange one? a Waldorf Microwave? They kick ass..
You wanna be able to make your own sounds from scratch or do you want to use some sound modules with preset sounds?

Yea i found it at guitarcenter, its orange. I forgot what its called, but all the sounds are industrial.

wish i knew where to look for modules online.

The guy said for an extra 200 i can get like 2 or 3 other chips of different modules of the same company included in it or somethin.

they make tight modules.. for industrial i'd recommend a sampler though.. there are lots of cool industrial sample cd roms out there.. e-mu makes the best samplers, then yamaha, akai and that shit..

Do you know of a controller with more weighted keys/dynamics??? I tried the 1100, actually the dynamics were pretty good, but it was too easy to play.

aight for stuff like that, you have to check the http://www.doepfer.de controllers.. real action, but piano and midi doesn't comply with eachother cause the velocity delay on a piano is too great, so it'll not ever be like a real piano.

There are some good 88 weighted key digital pianos from Roland, Yamaha that are under a grand. I prefer the yamaha action. The Roland is too mushy for my taste. As controllers they are pretty basic but you are paying for the action and a good piano sound.

The dedicated controllers are better for live performance if you need to do lots of complicated patch changes but I've never really liked the action on them that much.

I use a Yamaha and have a few modules around for studio work.

why do you say that midi and piano don't mix. I've been looking for a couple months now for a controller. I want to be able to use other sound modules so he controller can't be a "only piano" thing. I played the Yamaha P80 i think. Its the little brother the P200?

there is a Kawai MP9000 which is now the 9500 with more sounds. It has alot of controller functions, great piano sounds and a few other great sounds and, the keyboard has a great, great feel. I am a piano player, I learned on a real piano and studied classical music at one time and I love the 9000. It is my main controller. The only drawback is it is about $1500 and it weighs a ton. Otherwise, this is a great instrument. Sometimes I want the action of a synth so I use my Korg Karma, however, for piano, the Kawai is realy fantastic.

Anyway, this is truly up to the individual, whatever you like, thats what you should play.

Hello DarkAngel. I'm a pianist too. I have 2 keyboards and a nice big ole' grand!
If you like the feel of a real piano, then I'd have a look at the "Fatar" Keyboard Controllers. I have 2 Fatars. One is an older "Studio 90" and the other is an SL990. The Studio 90 is quite a bit more expensive, and has a slightly better feel than the SL990, but the SL990 is still a great controller. Both models are 88 key, weighted action, grand feel.
