Weird Shite

Well, I'm having a couple rather strange problems with Vegas Audio 2.0. The first one is that the panning seems to arbitrarily switch between the left and right sides. Say I play back a track and I pan guitar 1 hard left and guitar 2 hard right. Then I play it back again and they've switched. So, at this point I think I'm going crazy, and I try it again and they are back the way they started. It seems to be totally random when it decides to switch right to left and has only started happening recently. I think the issue must be in Vegas, cause the Gadget Labs card I use doesn't even allow you to reroute the output on purpose.

The second problem I'm having could very well be sound card related, but I'm not sure. Say I'm recording a drum set with 2 overheads, snare and kick. I have the overheads positioned so the snare is in phase through both of the mics. I record a little drum beat and zoom in on the waves - a snare hit in particular. The snare hit is dead on for both the overheads, but the snare mic signal is shifted to the left some as you would expect since its closer to the drum. OK, sounds good, right? Well, then I try it again and this time the snare mic signal ends up starting just to the right of the overheads. I try it over and over and they rarely have the same relationship twice. Does this mean the time sync on my sound card is totally out of wack?

Any thoughts????

To the first question it must be a problem with Vegas. You might want to try to uninstall then re-install the program.

To your second question it is definitely soundcard related.
