Question Track Manipulation

Hello, I am a novice user of Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. So, far I like it, it is perfect for what my needs are.

I do have a question for anyone here that knows more about Cakewalk than I do. How do I select a fraction (small piece) of a track and manipulate the volume or EQ?

It seems that Cakewalk has its own set of numbers or sections. But I want to manipulate or highlight smaller sections. How do I do this?

Thanks in advance.

Turn off the snap-to-grid feature, and you can place the cursor anywhere to start your selection, and drag it anywhere to end it, instead of its positions being quantized by whole notes or quarter notes or whatever.

I'm not sure if Home Studio has the envelopes feature, but you could also do volume envelopes. Do what imalion said, then make 2 Splits for the section you want to change, and add a volume envelope. That way you don't have to alter your audio, just the volume at that point.
