school question

First off I would like to apologize for putting this in the "recording techniques" thread but I had no idea where this would belong.

I've been taking music rather seriously for a while now and I honestly couldn't see myself doing anything else. I was looking into some of those schools like the SAE one in new york and there was another one in arizona and schools like that. My question is if anyone here has been to one of those schools or has known anything about them, im just looking for advice here.
I really just wanna know if it's worth the time and money if I wanna get into this for a living. I record at home like all of you guys do now but I have a gut feeling that my home experience wouldn't be enough to get me in the door.

Any info given would be very appreciated
thanks alot
happy new year

rtzstudios is on a distinguished road
Do you know of any studios in your area that you could apprentice at? I've been doing it for the last 4 months at John Keane Studio and have been learning tons of stuff!!! It ends up being cheaper than going to school (and a lot more fun), but it still may not "get you in the door..."

Just a thought...

funny enough before i wrote this I sent an email to the only decent sized studio in the area (im not in a big area).
I know he's offered internships before but that doesnt mean he's taking them now. I'm really just evaluationg my options.
thanks for the reply though
