4-Track Recording

Hey, I just got a Tascam Mf-Po1 4-Track recorder, it doesn't have a mixer, I mic up my Mesa with a Kustom mic. I mix it down through my high quality stereo system. The end result is a lot of hiss. The sound is treble-distorted, what is my problem?
